Snakes by the riverside, laughing in my dreams,
whispering in my ear, nooses hanging from a tree.
There where spirits there to guide me,
yeah, they could of helped me see.
But none of them even tried.

And so I got drunk in an orgy full of shame,
and in the end I only had myself to blame.
And you won't even have yourself when you talk to snakes,
you can bank on that every time.

That's the reason why, there's a reason why,

Life is hard, this life is hard.
All because I had a conversation with a snake,
in the garden of Eden, now everything's forever changed.

When I woke alone, I had no faith or hope or back bone.
And any attempt to find them was no use.
Cause you can't un-know what you know, and you can't let it go.
But you can embrace your truth.

And my truth is that I can't aspire to what I don't believe in,
and what I don't believe in, I can't fake or hide.
It's all circular you see, and it seems obvious to me,
but once you talk to snakes, you'll over analyze.

That's the reason why, now I know why.

And everything will come, and everything will go.
And I will still be here, the only one that ever knows,
that's all because I never understood, the power of the serpents,
of the evil and the good,
Yeah it's all because I had a conversation with a snake,
