09) Everything Left

I live by a stream at the bottom of a hill,
Where everything washes away.
All the things that people don't want anymore,
float down the stream and end up at my door.

There are boxes and letters and rusted cans.
Old pictures of places and long lost friends,
it seems nobody cares what happens to them,
but they can count on me.

I have everything left in the world now,
everything left in the world.
I have everything left in the world now,
but I don't have you.

I seem to remember that thing that you said,
how nothing can ever be lost.
Then how come the things we all hold so dear
become someones trash and then end up here.
I know I shouldn't ask why but it isn't so clear.

There are collars and rattles and pots and pans,
trophies, and ribbons and bicycle stands,
and I don't know why nothing matters to them,
when it matters so much to me.

I have everything left in the world now,
everything left in the world.
I have everything left in the world,
but I don't have you.

Last night I dreamed that it wasn't this way,
nothing of value had been thrown away,
so many things can go wrong in a day,
so I thank my lucky stars.

I have everything left in the world now,
everything left in the world.
I have everything left in the world,
but I don't have you.
